Police and other security operatives arrested two people on Friday suspected to be members of the gangs that have been terrorizing mobile money operators in Kampala.

Mwangusho Dennis and Onenchan Emma were arrested, following a successful joint operation in Masanafu, in Kampala that was carried out by police, CID and other security agencies this week.

Addressing the press this week, Fred Enanga the Police Spokesperson said that the number of the suspects has now reached three and police is still hunting for the remaining three suspects.

“These goons move on three motorcycles. We have so far arrested three and the remaining three will be arrested soon,” said Enanga.

Enanga added that the two were added to Muluta Stanley, the prime suspect in this case who was earlier arrested in connection with the murder of the two mobile money agents in Zana and other robberies in Kampala.

“Muluta Stanley had only just been released from prison in April after serving a three year sentence following his conviction for raiding a forex bureau in 2015,” he said.

Enanga added that Mwangusho Dennis and Onenchan Emma are deserters from the army who killed their colleague, a leutenant and convicted but later released after serving their sentences.

In addition police also discovered the gun which was used in the shooting of Nalwada Harriet and Moreen Nakajubi on 10th May in Zana.

“According to our lab technicians, the shells and the bullets that were found at the scene directly corresponds with this gun”

He added that the gun was stolen by these two from Ssingo military barracks and the shooting of the two mobile money agents was done by Mwangusho Dennis.

According to Enanga, the suspects have carried out over six robberies and they were planning to rob another businessman in Mutukula.
