
Stella Apolot Isodo, the serving Woman Member of Parliament for Ngora District, has died only days after she was defeated in her bid to retain the seat, news that has deeply shaken residents and the wider political community.
Her death marks a painful moment for Ngora District, where she was widely known not just as a legislator but as an energetic grassroots mobiliser for the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC). Many leaders, supporters, and ordinary citizens have expressed grief, remembering her as a committed public servant who remained close to the people she represented.
Throughout her time in Parliament, Isodo earned recognition for championing women’s rights, community empowerment, and local development initiatives. Her death comes shortly after a highly contested parliamentary election that altered Ngora District’s political landscape. In the final tally, National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Pedun Josephine Pedun emerged victorious with 17,010 votes. She was followed by Democratic Party (DP) contender Abeja Christine Abeja, who secured 12,152 votes. Isodo finished third with 11,334 votes, while National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Amuge Rhoda received 437 votes.
Although the exact nature of the illness that led to her death has not yet been fully disclosed, the family is expected to release more details at a later time.
