Uganda has strengthened its trade and investment position following a high-impact participation at the China Import and Export Fair, held in Guangzhou from May 1 to 5, 2026.

Officials said the country used the global platform to promote exports, attract investment, and deepen economic cooperation, particularly with China.

The Ugandan delegation, led by Juju Nsababera, highlighted Uganda’s ambition to position itself as a competitive supplier of value-added, high-quality products to international markets.

Exhibitors from key sectors including coffee, shea butter, and artisanal crafts attracted strong interest from global buyers. Several participants secured direct sales and export orders, reflecting growing international demand for Ugandan products.

Beyond trade, Uganda also drew attention as a tourism and investment destination. Officials reported that engagements were initiated with potential partners from Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Government representatives emphasized that participation in international platforms such as the Canton Fair is critical for expanding exports, promoting value addition, and strengthening Uganda’s integration into global value chains.

They reaffirmed that Uganda remains open for business and committed to building strong international partnerships.
