Uganda Cranes’ Denis Onyango included in CAF’s Africa Best XI

Uganda’s international Denis Onyango has been included in the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) best eleven for 2018.

At the event Egypt’s Salah beats Gabon’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Senegal’s Sadio Mane to the 2018 African Player of the Year award for the second year in a row.

He became the first player to do so after Ivory Coast’s Yaya Toure, who claimed it four years in a row between 2011 and 2014.

The Egyptian has had a great season breaking the Premier League all-time scoring record in a single season with 32 goals and many other records with the Reds.

He was also crowned as the best player in the Premier League last season and finished 6th in the Ballon d’Or ranking.

Salah made the best African eleven alongside Liverpool teammates Sadio Mane and Naby Keita. Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez also made the cut as well as Mehdi Benatia from Morocco.

Meanwhile, Morocco international and Borussia Dortmund defender Achraf Hakimi, who won the 2018 African Youth Player of the Year award, failed to make the team.

The eleven include:

Goalkeeper: Denis Onyango (Uganda).

Defenders: Serge Aurier (Ivory Coast), Mehdi Benatia (Morocco), Eric Bailly (Ivory Coast), Kalidou Koulibaly (Senegal).

Midfielders: Naby Keita (Guinea), Thomas Partey (Ghana), Riyad Mahrez (Algeria).

Forwards: Sadio Mane (Senegal), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon), Mohamed Salah (Egypt).
