Security forces have been heavily deployed along the major routes leading into Jinja city ahead of the National Unity Platform (NUP)’s planned manifesto launch. The party’s presidential flagbearer, Robert Kyagulanyi, commonly known as Bobi Wine, is scheduled to unveil his manifesto at Kagoma Primary School playground in Kagoma Town Council, Jinja district, marking the official start of his nationwide campaign tour.

Kyagulanyi's visit has triggered heightened security presence, beginning from the Nile Bridge and extending through key access points into the city’s central business district.

The security deployment stretches from the Umbercoat roundabout through Gaddafi and Mailo-Mbili, with noticeable presence in high-traffic trading centers such as Mafubira, Namulesa, Bugembe, and Kakira. These areas are seen as critical to Kyagulanyi's outreach, particularly among the youth engaged in informal trade.

According to Andrew Kaluya, NUP’s head of mobilization for Eastern Uganda, their campaign teams have been sensitized on the importance of discipline to ensure smooth movement along the campaign trail.

Kaluya acknowledges the role of security agencies in maintaining law and order, stating, "Our teams appreciate the presence of security in fostering law and order," but he expressed concern over "encountering excessive force from security agencies."

He emphasized that their activities are peaceful and officially sanctioned by the Electoral Commission, asserting that "security entities ought to abide by it without any compromise."

Meanwhile, Kiira Regional Police spokesperson James Mubi confirmed that law enforcement held a final harmonization meeting with NUP leaders in the Busoga sub-region to agree on operational guidelines for the rallies.

Mubi assured the public that “with full adherence to the set guidelines, NUP supporters and all other political parties will enjoy full protection from security agencies without any challenges.”

However, Mubi also cautioned against provocations, stating, "There are tendencies by some party supporters to attack security personnel to create sympathetic scenes for themselves." He added that crime intelligence teams have been deployed to identify and arrest any such individuals.
