Uganda shines once more with Cheptegei’s gold
Uganda’s long distance runner Joshua Cheptegei has for the second time in a week helped brought ultimate glory when he won the 5000 metres at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Japan.
Already a national hero, having won Silver last week, Cheptegei, powered to the finish line with incredible energy with 12 minutes 58:15, attracting cheers, praise and pleasant remarks about Uganda’s beauty and warm people from television announcers.
His win has made him the first ever Ugandan in the country’s history to win two medals at the same games.
