Bush war hero Gen. Pecos Kutesa is dead
Lt. Gen. Pecos Kutesa, one of the 1986 Bush war heros has died at the age of 65, The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) spokesperson has confirmed.
“The UPDF fraternity regrets to announce the passing on of Lt Gen Pecos Kutesa which occurred today in India. More details to follow. MHSRIEP,” the UPDF spokesperson Brig. Gen. Flavia Byekwaso said in a statement.
General Kutesa was among the 14 generals that were recently retired by President Museveni, however, he was last week admitted at a Nairobi hospital due to internal organ complications before he was transferred to India.
Pecos Kutesa began his military career in 1976 when he joined FRONASA, one of the military groups formed to fight Id Amin Dada, like other FRONASA recruits, he was trained at Munduli Military Academy in Tanzania.
Kutesa was one of the people who participated in the five year bush war that ushered the current NRM government led by President Museveni into power in 1986.
He recently represented the UPDF in Parliament and also headed the Military doctrine.
