UMA and UNMF find common ground, sign MOU

Singer Cindy Sanyu, also the president of Ugandan Musicians Association (UMA), has confirmed that they reached an agreement with Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), led by Eddy Kenzo and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) two weeks ago.
Both parties agreed to work together to achieve a common goal, especially in lobbying for the music industry.
“In the very beginning, as UMA, we had the wave of UNMF, and there was so much friction between us. About two weeks ago, UMA executives sat down with the UNMF executives and decided to design a memorandum of understanding on whether we can work together, and right now we are actually working together,” she said
Cindy further explained that working together with UNMF does not mean they share the same space, but rather, sharing something in common.
“We realised that we have something common as musicians and signed the MOU with UNMF.”
The joint efforts are focused on key issues affecting musicians, like copyright protection, artist welfare, and professional development, among others.
