Uganda ends 38 year absence at Afcon finals with win over Comoros

Uganda’s National soccer team The Uganda Cranes used the best chance of qualifying for the finals of the African Nations Cup in many years when they beat the Grand Comoros at home by one goal to nil.

The Cranes achieved the historic feat through player Farouk Miya in the 34th minute of the game played on home ground at Mandela National Soccer Stadium.

The highly anticipated victory caused wild celebrations inside the fully packed 40, 000 capacity stadium as well as outside the stadium. But the celebrations were amplified by the final whistle.

The victory put Uganda level on 13 points with group leaders Burkina Faso who have a superior head to head record. Uganda will play at Afcon championship in Garbon next year as the best group runners up.
