UBOS to carry out post Enumeration survey

UBOS chief Mungyereza

Following the conclusion of the National Population and Housing Census, ” Mungyereza said adding that it enable the statistical body to ascertain and examine the effectiveness, accuracy, quality and limitations of the census data in their possession before dissemination to the public.

Citing a similar PES carried out in the aftermath of the 2002 National Population and Housing Census Mungyereza explained that while it will include all persons who should have been counted in the census, it will exclude institutional population such as hotels and motels, hospitals as well as people living in tents and other temporary structures erected after the census night.

“This will therefore enable us uncover deficiencies if any in the methodology of the census and make adjustment in the final results and improvements for future censuses among other uses” he added

As part of the preparations for the exercise , UBOS has conducted a 3 days training for enumerators selected regional centers including Arua, Gulu, Mbale ,Jinja, Mukono, Fort portal, Mbarara and Masaka between 23rd -25th in 8

However, according to the Census advocacy and publicity officer Godfrey Nabongo

While the PES enumerators will bear identity cards, they will not put on aprons  to avoid a scenario where some members of the public would mistake the survey as a continuation of the already concluded census.
