NRM set to start door to door vote hunt
NRM Chairman President Yoweri Museveni
President Yoweri Museveni’s marathon campaign that has seen him cover at least 40 districts in four regions of Uganda in the first month of the race is not the only sign of determination by the ruling party to retain power.
The Sunrise has learnt that lower level cadres are plotting to kick off early canvassing for votes, something most politicians plan as the last minute event.
In Kawempe division, NRM leaders there have revealed they will soon start moving from door to door to campaign for Museveni and other party candidates.
Hajj Sulaiman Sseremba, the NRM chairman Kawempe task force, the team will fully engage in canvassing for votes, for all NRM flag bearers.
Emphasis, he said, is to start with the Presidential flag bearer (NRM) Yoweri Museveni followed by the MP, Mayors of KCCA as well as councilors.
Kawempe division is composed of 5 sub-counties, 22 parishes and 120 branches (zones).
Sseremba said the task force to hunt for votes includes, traditional healers, wheel barrow pushers, toninyira mukange, lorry drivers, special hire operators, charcoal sellers, traders, saloon operators, malwa clubs, scrap dealers, fish mongers, dry cleaners, washing bays, stone quarries and Hawkers to mention but few.
The idea is that each member of that category will try to reach out to his or her colleagues. If all goes according to plan, Sseremba is optimistic that they will garner a landslide in 2016.
