M7 tells pastors to work for social transformation
President Yoweri Museveni has tasked Pastors and the Church in Uganda to position itself to participate actively in the social transformation of society.
This was during the 1st Uganda Top 100 Pastors Retreat organized by Heal the Planet Global Organization (HTP) a platform headed by former Kampala Central MP Aspirant Ernest Benjamin Kivumbi.
“It is my sincere hope that with God’s guidance, you will share experiences that shall result into increased spiritual revival, prosperity and socio-economic transformation in your lives. I encourage you to continue praying for our country.” Yoweri Kaguta Museveni
In the speech read by Minister Hon Prof Ephraim Kamuntu Museveni explained that NRM government has successfully transformed the minds and understanding of Ugandans from confusing religions with politics.
“When we launched the armed struggle, our aim was to build a new political order that prioritizes peace, security and development; and the results can apparently be seen.” Museveni explains
The retreat which took place on Saturday 06th August 2016 at J& M Hotel Bwebajja in Entebbe attracted Top city pastors from different ministries around the country in a retreat thought to be the first of kind under the theme “God’s Kingdom matters”.
At the Retreat, pastors asked President Museveni to ban taxes on imported goods that are intended to benefit society and also stop individuals using NEEMA to close churches under the guise of sound pollution.
Kivumbi who convened the Retreat noted that time has come for the church to forget all its differences, come up together and forge a way in which it can achieve the seven mountains of power.
