Upper Madi by-election set for June 22, 2017
The Electoral Commission (EC) has set June 22 as the polling date for the by-elections for Upper Madi county member of parliament. This follows the nullification of the election of former NRM MP Etuuka Isaac Joackino.
The announcement was made by the new chairman of the Electoral Commission Justice Byamukama Mugenyi Simon this week at the EC headquarters in Kampala.
Justice Byamukama also released the election programme for the by-election which will start with a ban on all fundraising activities starting with a stakeholders meeting on May 8, 2017. May 8 to 12, 2017 have been gazetted as days for updating the voters’ register.
The Electoral Commission has also announced a ban on all fundraising activities across Madi county starting May 12, 2017 until the end of polling.
