NIC boosts Uganda-Mauritania game
The Cranes are set to play Mauritania on Saturday July 19, 2014 in a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Namboole. The game is crucial for the national soccer side as it will determine whether Uganda advance to the last qualification phase in Group E and join Ghana, Togo and Guinea who are already through to that stage.
NIC used their Facebook page and radio call-in-shows to give out the tickets to 100 lucky winners who will be expected to cheer the national team.
Pamela Bayo, NIC’s senior manager corporate communications said the donation of tickets was a gesture in support of Uganda’s soccer team – the Cranes. She urged all soccer lovers to turn up in big numbers to support the national side.
She said: “National Insurance Corporation is saying ‘thank you’ to supporters by offering them chance to win tickets to tomorrow’s match pitting the cranes against Mauritania at Namboole.”
She added: “Our vision in supporting the Cranes is to create an enabling environment for our footballers so that they too can compete on a global platform and rank among the best in the world,”added.
Pamela added that NIC has not only stood with Cranes since 2008 as the national soccer team’s lead insurance partner, the company has invested up to Ushs 660 million.
Pamela said NIC offers all Cranes players and staff an all-round life insurance package that includes medical to ensure all aspects of a player’s life are covered while he is on national duty.
