Uganda Cranes keeper Dhaira passes on
One of Uganda’s most talented goal keepers Abbey Dhaira has died due to cancer. Dhaira who last played for Uganda Cranes in 2013, was 28 by the time of his death.
Dhaira died in Iceland where he was playing professional football for IBV Vestmanaeyjar, after less than six months battling with abdominal cancer.
Dhaira was widely recognised as one of Uganda’s most talented goalkeepers. His father Bright Dhaira also played for The Cranes as a goalkeeper.
Family members said they plan to return his body for burial at his ancestral grounds in Busoga.
