Ex-Arsenal striker Reyes dies in accident

Former Arsenal and Spain striker, Jose Antonio Reyes, 35, died yesterday in motor accident. Sevilla said in a Tweet: “We couldn’t be confirming worse news. Beloved Sevilla star Jose Antonio Reyes has died in a traffic collision. Rest in peace.”

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has announced that the seven Segunda Division games scheduled to be played on Sunday would now be held on Tuesday evening following Reyes’ death.

Extremadura, for whom Reyes had made nine appearances since joining in January, were due to play at Cadiz on Sunday in what is the penultimate round of regular-season fixtures.

Reyes was part of the history-making Arsenal invincibles team of 2003-2004 season that won the english premiership without losing a single game. Thiery Henry, with whom he played in the invincibles team expressed shock at Reyes death.
