Ogembo’s Four-Ball Shines at KCB East Africa Golf Tour in Nakuru

The formidable four-ball of Enock Ogembo, Eleanor Wambui, John Kibet, and M.M. Macharia delivered an exceptional combined score of 114 points to emerge overall team winners at the KCB East Africa Golf Tour held at the par-73 Nakuru Golf Club on Saturday.

In a competitive field of 228 golfers from across the region, Ogembo’s team edged out the quartet of Stephen Macharia, Micah Thuo, Javan Muriithi, and William Kariuki, who finished second with 111 points.

“I am very happy for this win,” a jubilant Ogembo said during the prize-giving ceremony. “We have been practising hard in preparation for this tournament. I have a solid team, and tomorrow, we’re heading to another tournament to sharpen our skills. We will bring the cup home at the tour’s grand finale.”

In the individual categories, handicap 28 golfer Stephen Ibwaga emerged as the overall winner after carding an outstanding 44 stableford points, staying comfortably ahead of his nearest challenger.

Handicap 19 golfer Francis Wanjohi clinched the men’s winner accolade with 41 points, while Eleanor Wambui—also part of the winning four-ball—dominated the women’s field. Playing off handicap 15, she returned 38 points to be crowned the lady winner.

Among staff players, Ibrahim Lande (handicap 11) led the charge with 39 points, narrowly beating Anthony Mulisa (handicap 25) on countback. In the juniors’ category, Cassius Pennington (handicap 21) put on a sensational performance with 43 points to claim top honours.

William Kariuki, playing off handicap 17 and representing Njoro Golf Club, earned the guest winner award with 41 points. Meanwhile, Dr. Terra Saidimu and Florence Wafula claimed the longest drive titles in the men’s and ladies’ categories, respectively.

The action-packed weekend was not limited to the fairways. On Sunday, KCB hosted a junior golf clinic at Nakuru Golf Club, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing young talent in the sport. A tree-planting initiative also took place, in line with the bank’s broader sustainability goals.

The momentum continues into Monday, July 14, when over 100 caddies are expected to take part in a dedicated round of golf at the same venue. The inclusive gesture reflects KCB’s mission to involve every stakeholder in its regional golf development initiative.

The KCB East Africa Golf Tour continues to gain traction as a platform not only for elite competition but also for fostering community engagement and environmental consciousness.
