Zambaali Pledges Loyalty to NUP Ahead of 2026 Polls

Journalist and political aspirant Zambaali Bulasio Mukasa has declared he will not run as an independent candidate in the 2026 general elections if he fails to secure the endorsement of the National Unity Platform (NUP) for the Nansana Municipality Member of Parliament seat.

Speaking in an Interview with BBS TV, Zambaali emphasized that his political ambitions are deeply intertwined with the values and mission of NUP, headed by Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine.

“I will not stand as an independent if my party decides that I am not the best candidate to represent the people of Nansana. I joined active politics for the common goal of pushing for change,” he stated.

The celebrated media personality, who transitioned into active politics to champion political transformation, reaffirmed his unwavering allegiance to the party, adding that he trusts the internal processes NUP has established to choose its flag bearers.

“I believe in the party’s process, and I am willing to go by its decision because what has led some of us into this struggle is not merely obtaining a party card, but joining a collective journey to transform the image of our country Uganda,” he said

His stance comes at a time when several opposition figures have opted to go independent after falling short in party primaries.
