When the Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC) management announced in July 2017 renovation of the National Theatre many artistes were scared. They thought it was the last blow to Uganda’s home of culture.

The year 2018, however, proved that National would still be home to Uganda’s culture. The fully furnished auditorium and outer space have been busy throughout the second half of 2018, preserving and promoting culture through music, dance, drama and painted art pieces.

The success of Kenneth Mugabi’s maiden concert paved way for the success of another Edition of  Pearl Rhythm, the first Annual Arts and Culture Festival, Diplock Ssegawa’s Sooka Omunoonye concert, plus the Dance Choir Mukirombe and many others.

If you missed any of these events, then your cake missed a little icing. The crowd singing along to Nambi, Minister Peace Mutuuzo dancing along with cultural groups, hand portraits, thrilling performances from Suzan Kerunen and her pearl rhythm team, dance choir mu Kirombe thumbed it up with their human rights dance moves. In other words, Ugandan culture feels at home in her home.
