Human Rights Commission boss Meddi Kaggwa dies
The long-serving chairperson of the Uganda Human Rights Commission, Med Kaggwa, has passed on after collapsing on the steering of his official as he was driving to attend a conference.
The incident is said to have happened near Mulago. According to an eye-witness, the car had to be broken into to remove him. He was rushed to Case Hospital where doctors tried to save his life but to no avail.
Until his death, Kaggwa, had served as chairperson of Uganda Human Rights Commission for more than eight years.
He was also Commissioner and Special Rapporteur on Prisons and Conditions of Detention of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights and a Commissioner of the OIC Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission.
