Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II Calls for Peace and Unity During Election Period, Urges Stand Against Violence and Injustice

Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has extended heartfelt congratulations to Muslims across Uganda as they celebrated Eid El-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

In his message, the Kabaka urged the Muslim community to uphold the core values of peace, fairness, and religious devotion during the celebrations and beyond.

As Uganda enters an election period, Kabaka Mutebi called for collective dedication to God, highlighting the need for prayers to prevent the electoral violence that often mars the democratic process.

“This time should be dedicated to God to prevent the violence that often arises during elections and to enable us to elect leaders who are just, sensible, and committed to both the Kingdom and their country,” the Kabaka stated, stressing the significance of electing leaders who prioritize peace and unity.

In his message, the Kabaka expressed deep concern over the rising levels of violence, cruelty and discrimination in the country. He implored Muslims to speak out against these injustices, particularly in the areas of public service allocation and employment, where acts of unfairness have been increasingly reported.

“We urge you not to remain silent about these acts, as well as any form of discrimination in the allocation of public services. Jobs should be given to qualified and impartial candidates,” he said, calling for a commitment to justice and equality.

The Kabaka’s call for peace and social justice resonates with the spirit of Eid, a time for reflection, gratitude and solidarity.

As Uganda celebrated Eid El-Fitr on Sunday, Muslims across the country observed the sighting of the new Crescent Moon, marking the end of a 29-day fasting period. This year’s fasting cycle, per Islamic tradition, lasted 29 days, symbolizing spiritual discipline and devotion.

Meanwhile, Kabaka Mutebi’s message comes at a critical time, underscoring the importance of unity and compassion in building a more peaceful, just and inclusive Uganda.

His call to action, particularly against violence and discrimination, offers a hopeful vision for the future, where the values of fairness and respect for all are deeply embedded in both faith and public life.
